Backhoe Loader Description

Backhoe loaders vary somewhat in size, although your main decisions when renting a backhoe loader will be which attachments you need.  Backhoe loaders serve a wide variety of purposes, even without upgrades and extras.

Features of backhoe loaders

There are three components to backhoe loaders: the tractor, the loader, and the backhoe.  The tractor is made with heavy-duty tires and a solid frame to protect the operator from accidents.  Many models have quick couplers to allow the operator to change the backhoe attachment; breakers, grapples, and augers are common options.

How backhoe loaders work

Backhoe loaders are used to dig and fill holes and trenches.  The backhoe acts like a long, mechanical arm that uses the bucket on the end to scoop and move material.  The loader on the front can be used to fill the holes back in as needed.  The operator sits in a protected cab; the chair swivels to face either the loader or the backhoe.  Stabilizer legs are used to keep the backhoe loader from rocking while in use.  Your KWIPPED network supplier will assist you in learning to operate the specific model you rent.

About backhoe loaders

Backhoe loaders are heavy equipment vehicles commonly found at construction sites.  They have a large bucket loader on the front and a small backhoe on the rear.  Backhoe loaders are also known as loader backhoes, diggers, or backhoes.  Their compact size makes them ideal for smaller construction sites and projects.
