Laboratory Centrifuge Description

The type of centrifuge you rent or lease will be dependent on the sample you are processing.  The sample and process protocol will determine the speed and tube size requirement.  You may also want to consider programmability, mounting options and noise levels.

Centrifuge speed settings can be deterimined by knowing the process protocol and with the help of a Nomograph that charts centrifgual speeds against RCF and G-Force.

Features of laboratory centrifuges

There are many different brands of laboratory centrifuges available for rent.  Primary features of each model centrifuge include the speed, tube size, programmability, rotor design, refridgeration capabilities and physical footprint.  Other features include noise levels and mounting or fastening options.

KWIPPED suppliers can help you to navigate available centrifuge rental or lease options.  They are quite verse in application and equipment capabilities.

How laboratory centrifuges work

Centrifuges work by spining samples around a center axis.  Elements of the sample will separate based on their density, with the denser elements moving toward the outside of the centrifuge.  Centrifuges work based on the sedimentation principle where perpindicCentrifugation Separationsular forces push materials of greater density further away from the center axis.

The forces exerted on centrifuge samples is a function of the speed of rotation and the radius of the centrifuge and is represented by the equation.

RCF (Relative Centrifugal Force) or G-force = 1.12  x  R (mm)  x  (RPM/1000)²

About laboratory centrifuges

Centrifuge demonstrationKWIPPED's equipment rental or lease network rents laboratory centrifuges which are primarily used to separate and isolate liquids or suspensions, blood &  plasma, parts of cells, nucleic acids and other immiscible liquids.  Immiscible liquids are liquids that do not form a homogeneous solution when mixed together such as water and oil.

Laboratory centrifuges are "breadbox" in size and are typcially designed to spin small tubes containing the sample solution.  Centrifuge rentals are popular in clinical trials and academic research.
