EEG Machine Description

An EEG or electroencephalogram is a type of test that is used to take a measurement of the electrical activity in the brain. The brain generates electrical signals, or impulses, and the EEG machine is utilized to measure this activity.

The EEG machines are in laboratories, as well as at hospitals and in doctors’ offices. They are used to monitor and diagnose a number of different health conditions. Some of these conditions include Alzheimer’s disease, head injuries, tumors, infections, epilepsy and seizures, and changes in the body chemistry that have affected the brain. Many times people who feel confused or who have fainting spells will also need to undergo an EEG test.

The EEG machine is also used for monitoring brains during brain surgery, and to help deal with evaluation of sleep disorders. As such, they are a staple of many different clinics and doctor’s offices that treat a range of different disorders.

Features of eeg machines

While the basics of the EEG machine are going to be the same from one machine to another, each one will have specialized features. They can vary in their size and their functionality. One of the computer-based types of EEG is called a polysomnography machine. Often, this type of equipment works along with a video camera.

Some of the other equipment that may be needed with EEG machines include amplifiers, amplifier holders, electromyographic machines, eye tracking devices, and more. Each of the different attachments and pieces of equipment that are available has the potential to provide the different functionality to the EEG machine.

As mentioned, the basics of the EEG machine are the same. However, when you’re choosing one for your clinic or office, you need to make sure you double-check all of the features and equipment that the machine offers to make sure it is going to suit your needs. Look at the number of leads that it has, as well as how mobile it is and how large. You have to find something that is going to work with not only you and your patients’ needs but also the space you have available.
